Who We Are

Chesapeake Housing Mission (CHM) is non-profit Christian organization committed to building safer, healthier homes for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Our mission is to foster independence and well-being by providing free accessibility modifications for those facing mobility challenges, particularly seniors and disabled residents who wish to age in place.

Thanks to the support of foundations, businesses, and community members, we’re able to fund materials, infrastructure, and volunteer coordination to ensure quality, reliability, and safety in each installation. CHM celebrates the support of a strong community, making a lasting difference in the lives of clients who dream of staying safely in their homes.

What We Do

Our team specializes in wheelchair ramps, grab bars, handrails, and other fall-prevention measures to enhance mobility and prevent injuries. To date, we have completed over 1,000 accessibility projects, significantly reducing falls by 87% and lowering hospitalization costs. Our dedicated volunteers—more than 15,000 since 2009—complete each project in a single day, with local and out-of-state groups lending their hands to make an immediate impact.
