The Homeless Alliance for the Lower Shore (HALS) is conducting a Homeless Survey on Thursday, Jan. 28th at various locations on the Lower Shore. Survey results provide critical data about our homeless population and helps direct resources and grant awards to meet local needs and bring more affordable housing to our area.
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to assist with administering 2 page survey to our local homeless population. All volunteers will be offered pre-survey instructions, and are needed for specific locations in Wicomico county:
- HALO (one hour time slots available: 7:30 am, 12:00 pm, 6:00 pm)
- Joseph House (various time slots available 8:30 am - 1:00 pm)
- PRMC Emergency Dept. (various time slots available 7:00 am - 11:00 pm)
- Salvation Army (various time slots available 9:00 am - 3:00 pm)
- Wicomico Public Library (various time slots available 10:00 am - 5:00 pm)
Volunteers will NOT engage homeless individuals outside of designated locations.
Volunteer responsibilities are:
- Welcome anyone experiencing homelessness to participate in the survey
- Assist with completion of the survey, if needed, and collect completed surveys
- Distribute survey incentives to participants (ie, water bottles, cold weather gear, etc).
All materials and pre-survey training will be provided. Volunteers are requested to provide a minimum two hour commitment, if possible (except at HALO), but any available time will be appreciated!
