Description

Volunteers will be responsible for assisting customers in the Canteen/Gift Shop by helping them get items and using the cash register. While on duty, volunteers may also be responsible for keeping track of expired or out of stock items. Depending on time of shift, volunteers will be responsible for opening or closing the cash register. All necessary training will be provided upon completion of on-boarding requirements.

Hours of Canteen/Gift Shop:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 11am-3pm

Weekend hours available upon need.

We ask that you commit to at least one calendar year of volunteer service at our facility, but are flexible based on needs. If you are seeking to complete community service hours for high school (15 years old or completed 10th grade) or college, please provide any necessary documentation from your institution prior to beginning volunteer services.

Applications for volunteer service at Deer’s Head Hospital Center are accepted on a rolling admission. Upon receiving your application, the Community Projects Coordinator will review it and schedule an interview. References will then be contacted, a background check completed (18+ years old) and you will be registered for an orientation program. During orientation, you will either be scheduled for or complete a tuberculin skin test and influenza vaccination. If you have had a tuberculin skin test within the last year and/or a flu shot within the current season, please provide documentation. After completing orientation, you will be placed in an area of service and start logging volunteer hours!
