Who We Are

The purpose of active volunteers at Deer’s Head Hospital Center is to bring additional social, recreational, and spiritual support services to patients that are not included in the basic care plan. These services do have medical value, especially in a hospital that provides long-term care; volunteers are able to offer encouragement and complimentary support to the medical staff.

Mission

Volunteers of Deer’s Head, Inc. exists to provide funds and services to the patients, residents, and staff of Deer’s Head Hospital Center that the state budget does not cover, through the raising and allocation of funds.

Vision

Through supporting the patients, residents, and staff, Volunteers of Deer’s Head, Inc. will be an advocate for the needs presented to them and assist in quality of life enhancement as an integral part of the patient-centered care model.

What We Do

Deer’s Head Hospital Center opened in 1950 and has been providing services ever since to the citizens of Maryland. The hospital is owned by the State of Maryland and is run by the Family Health Administration, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The hospital center is accredited by the Joint Commission and licensed by the Office of Health Care Quality.

The facility provides outcome oriented, comprehensive management of complex medical conditions. Our focus on providing excellence in every patient/resident experience is evident in the services we provide in the specialty hospital, inpatient and outpatient dialysis, and skilled/long term care.
