Dr. Peggy Naleppa to Be Honored as BSA Lower Shore Distinguished Citizen
The Del-Mar-Va Council, Boy Scouts of America, is honored to announce that Peggy Naleppa, MS, MBA, Dr.M., FACHE, President/CEO of the Peninsula Regional Health System and Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC), has been chosen to receive the 2017 Boy Scouts of America Lower Shore Distinguished Citizen Award.
The award will be presented to Dr. Naleppa on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury, MD. This year’s event is being chaired by Bruce Patterson with Wor Wic Community College President and former Chairman of the PRMC Board of Trustees, Dr. Ray Hoy, serving as Honorary Chairman.
Dr. Naleppa began her distinguished healthcare career as Director of Neurosurgical Services at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. She has served as a clinical leader or as a senior executive at several hospitals in Maryland including: Anne Arundel Medical Center, Calvert Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital. She has served as President of the Maryland Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and has held several leadership positions with the Maryland Hospital Association. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Dr. Naleppa, who is a registered nurse, holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration from St. Joseph’s College; a Master of Administration degree with a concentration in Finance from the University of Maryland University College; an MBA with a concentration in medical services from Johns Hopkins University; and a Doctorate in Management with a concentration in organizational process management from the University of Maryland University College. She has also been presented with a second Honorary Doctorate in Public Service from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
She has a 40-plus year history as a healthcare executive, 15 of those years in Salisbury, and has been the President/CEO of Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) and the Peninsula Regional Health System in Salisbury, Maryland since 2010.
Dr. Naleppa will retire in January 2018 but intends to remain in the area.
Recipients are selected for their outstanding service as evidenced by their leadership to many worthwhile organizations, as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues. The event will draw over 200 people to recognize Dr. Naleppa for her service and will raise over $70,000 to help support scouting programs and services.
Over 10,000 youth are served by the Del-Mar-Va Council, Boy Scouts of America annually. Special efforts are made to reach urban, rural, minority, handicapped, and underprivileged youths, who will benefit most from Scouting’s values-based programs.
