Who We Are

Village of Hope offers a Steps to Success Transitional Living Program and home for at-risk women and children. We accept women ages 18 – 62 with children 14 and under or without children. Women who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless who are interested in changing their current situation and improving their life and that of their children can be referred by an agency such as Life Crisis Center, Christian Shelter, local Departments of Social Services, or another local agency. Acceptance into Village of Hope is a three-prong process that starts with a referral, requires an in-take interview, and if it is determined that they meet the transitional living program criteria and pass a drug screening and criminal background check, they are invited for a final interview.  If accepted to the program, they work closely with our case management staff who help them develop an action plan and give them the tools and resources they need to get back on their feet.

The program includes life skills workshops, structured case management, transportation for participants who do not have a vehicle, an afterschool tutoring program for children in residence, and 14 fully-furnished apartments.

What We Do

Located in Salisbury, Maryland, Village of Hope is a not-for-profit, non-denominational 501(c)(3) organization that provides a transitional living program and home for at-risk women and children on Maryland’s lower Eastern Shore.

Village of Hope works with participants and their families to build skills and abilities that will empower them to lead self-sufficient, productive lives.

Women accepted into our Steps to Success Transitional Living program come from all walks of life. Often, they are caught in a self-perpetuating cycle of homelessness, domestic violence and financial deprivation. The program offers up to two years of residency in one of 14 furnished apartments located in the Village of Hope residence building. Working with a Case Manager, participants are required to establish a written, time-oriented plan for achieving self-sufficiency.

Through various donations from individuals, businesses, special events and our Annual Appeal, participants are provided opportunities to improve their education, employment status, job skills, life skills and attend classes at Wor-Wic Community College, Salisbury University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore,or other educational facilities in order to achieve their goals and become productive members of society.

Village of Hope is widely recognized as an outstanding Delmarva charity. We are proud to serve the Lower Eastern Shore and welcome you to get involved.
