If you’re comfortable behind the wheel and enjoy hosting new people, consider joining the Transportation team. We need safety-conscious, patient drivers to provide shuttle service to performers, staff and presenters. The Festival will provide a fleet of vans and golf carts, with a radio dispatcher to keep things flowing smoothly.

All drivers will participate in mandatory training and must be at least 21 years of age. To ensure the safety of all, Transportation volunteers are required to go through a background check of their motor vehicle record.

The best-kept secret of the Festival is how much fun the Festival Operations crew have. You could be doing anything from painting platforms to hanging signage, setting up chairs to building the dance floor. Practical experience in construction, carpentry, or logistics is ideal – but we’re happy to have anyone who is willing and able.

Assisting in the Festival Marketplace is an opportunity to support artisans from around Maryland and the surrounding region. Volunteers play an important role helping vendors load in their wares and get settled, as well as pack up after a great weekend. During the festival, volunteers help by standing in for vendors who may need a moment away from their point of sale.

This is a great opportunity to get to know the Marketplace craftspeople a little - and see their beautiful wares earlier than anyone else!

These are some of the things you'll do as a Guest Services Volunteer.  Combining tasks of Info booths and First Aid Booths. whether it is giving directions to a stage or handing out a Band Aid this area is there to assist festival goers. It is the front line of assistance to make a festival goers more enjoyable.

The Maryland Folklife Area celebrates the music, crafts, and traditions that thrive in our state. Folklife Area volunteers work with Festival staff to support master artisans as they demonstrate their craft and occupational traditions throughout the weekend. Before the event, some volunteers are needed to do the setup on Friday. Especially needed are volunteers to help the tired but grateful artisans pack up their wares on Sunday.

As a Festival Desk volunteer, your smile and helpful demeanor will welcome festival performers and staff to Salisbury. This area is for the young - and the young at heart! If you love facilitating creativity and learning, the Family Activities Area may be a perfect fit. Local organizations organize crafts, games, and interactive activities for the Family Area, where children and families can create, learn, and play together. Volunteers provide support to organizers and audience, helping with activities, keeping the area tidy, and more. Come be part of the fun!

The Bucket Brigade collects audience donations to support this free event. You’ll be walking around in teams, reminding audience members that a “drop in the bucket” makes the Festival possible. This is a fun assignment – you get to chat with festival patrons and listen to great music simultaneously. It’s also a great opportunity for you and your coworkers, friends, family to see who can raise the most funds during your shift!

Think of a bike valet as a coat check for bikes!  The idea is simple - festival attendees riding their bikes to the MDFF bring their bike to the valet; they are given a number/ticket; the bike is safely stored for the duration of the event, and when the attendee is ready to ride home the number/ticket is presented to valet and their bike is returned.  The bike valet reduces the number of attendees driving to the MDFF, provides a safe, covered location for attendees to leave their bikes during the event, and removes the need for festival goers to bring a bike lock.  Volunteers are needed to manage the drop-off and pick-up of bikes during the MDFF.  Two volunteers will be at the bike valet at all times.

Volunteer Opportunity: Monthly Food Distribution Drive-

Join us in serving our community! The Salvation Army hosts a monthly Food Distribution Drive-Through, providing essential groceries to families in need. We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help make this event a success. Volunteer Roles (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM):

Volunteers are needed to spend 30 minutes a week reading to Pre-K children in elementary classrooms. The program will run weekly through the end of the school year. (If you can commit to bi-weekly instead of weekly, that’s OK, too – just let us know.)

Reading at an early age helps children develop a love of reading while improving early literacy, development, and language skills.   Please join us to help our littlest neighbors build the foundation they need to succeed! The program is easy, fun, and guaranteed to bring you a smile!

Volunteers will be matched with a classroom that works for your schedule/location.  All volunteers must also pass the county Board of Education's background check. 18+ or high school students with approval.

If you have a vehicle and some flexible hours, you could help us pick up food at local farms and farmers markets and get that good food to agencies in your area!  Pick ups are often easiest for larger deliveries, but vans, SUVs and cars can help distribute smaller amounts to smaller agencies.  Opportunities arise on short notice, as farmers find they have good, edible food that isn't marketable, and they need to clear it out.   Volunteers drive to farms, farmers load the food, and agencies help unload.  

Join us in local fields for about two hours at a time (typically early morning) to glean (pick) produce left behind after harvest!  Food goes directly from farm fields to local hunger agencies who can get it to their neighbors when it is at its freshest!  Volunteer opportunities generally arise with short notice, and can happen on weekdays or Saturdays.  https://endhunger.org/get-involved/volunteer/

The Bethany House is hoping to start groups and classes for our guests.  We desperately want to support our guests in their success, and we need community involvement to offer them a wide variety of resources.  Parent classes, bible studies, financial literacy and budget management, resume building, credit repair, basic life skills and family enrichment.

We are open from April 1 - October 31 M, W, F, and Sat from 11-3.

Meals are delivered to clients once a week, Monday through Friday. Meals are picked up at our 901. N. Milton location between 9am-11am.

Volunteer drivers set their own schedule according to how many days per week they wish to deliver meals and the area they request for the meal delivery. Meal delivery typically takes about 1-2 hours, with an average of 3-5 clients.

Moveable Feast delivers to Baltimore City, the 5 counties surrounding, and the Eastern shore. Most deliveries made by volunteers occur in the city or county unless otherwise requested.

Volunteering in Moveable Feast's kitchen puts you right in the middle of all the culinary action. Here, your hands help prepare and package meals that save lives. Our kitchen can accommodate up to 5-12 volunteers at a time and is great for individuals or groups.

WYFCS has a youth mentoring program called "Worcester Connects" that serves students in grades 1 - 12 in Worcester County.  Students are referred by anyone in the community with the goal of helping to build their resilience through mentorship with a positive adult role model.  The program is seeking volunteer mentors interested in serving the community through mentor-based leadership and we need your help!

We are seeking mentor applicants aged 18 and up who are interested in helping children succeed.  No special skills are required or mandatory.  Mentors candidates will be interviewed, receive a background check, and participate in virtual training through Mentoring Central before being matched with a student and meeting the child’s family.  Volunteer mentors will meet face-to-face with their mentee at least twice per month.  Monthly group mentor meetings are also offered by WYFCS and all mentees/mentors are welcome to attend.  Mentors will be asked to commit to one year of participation after assignment and will receive ongoing support from the program director and staff.

Diakonia is looking a volunteers to help sort donations including clothing, household items, books and more.  Our environment is professional, positive and fun.  Join our team!

We need drivers who are willing to pick up food donations in the Berlin/Ocean City area and deliver them to Diakonia.  We are also looking for interested volunteers with large vehicles (trucks, etc) to pick up donated furniture for our Thrift Store!
