Start the holiday season off on the right foot by giving your time to local children in need!
The 50th annual Salisbury Jaycees Christmas Shopping Tour is scheduled for Saturday, December 8th. Through this event, we take approximately 200 children Christmas shopping at no expense to themselves or their families. Volunteers should check in at the North Salisbury Walmart starting at 4:30 a.m. (Yes, in the morning). Once the children arrive via bus, volunteers will help chaperone them through the store, keeping track of their spending up to the set amount (the limit depends on fundraising and will be announced that morning), and ushering them through the checkout and gift wrapping lines. We also could use a small number of volunteers to assist as bus chaperones and as party room chaperones (during the event, Walmart's employee lounge is turned into a "party room" where kids may enjoy movies, coloring, and games while waiting for the other children on their bus to finish shopping). For planning purposes, we ask that bus and party room chaperones sign up at least a week in advance.
