I have gotten numerous requests lately for service learning opportunities, and as promised, we have a time set aside on Sunday, July 1st from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
As you may have noticed if you have been in the zoo lately, there are tons of mosquitoes. The keepers have identified the many piles of pine needles within the exhibits as a breeding ground for them. As such, we have a need for the needles to be removed. These 2 hours will consist of raking up the needles into piles and transporting them to the compost pile near the administration building.
I would ask that if you would like to help, please register using this website. You must be 14 years of age or older to volunteer without a parent or guardian present. Also, please bring bug spray and a reusable water bottle if you have it. It will most likely be hot and certainly buggy.
Please contact me at salisburyzooed@gmail.com if you have any questions.
