The Hunger Free Campus Initiative at Salisbury University is seeking a Half Time Americorps member to serve in the 2022-2023 service year.
This position will support Salisbury University in developing and supporting programs designed to reduce food insecurity issues on campus. The position involves providing direct service to students, marketing new initiatives, and helping develop Food For The Flock as a campus 'Brand'.
Member Responsibilities:
- Working 10 hours a week in the Food For The Flock pantry to extend hours beyond current capacity, which could include evenings and weekends.
- Assisting FFTF leadership in soliciting and expanding donations to the program from outside entities, including the Food Bank, local grocery stores, non-profits, etc.
- Enhancing the FFTF program by expanding indoor and outdoor food drop-off locations.
- Reviewing donated goods for suitability for the program.
- Developing program concepts for the FFTF program to better ensure the long-term viability of the program.
- Developing a marketing program designed to encourage students with meal plans to donate unused meals.
- Assisting with the development of the Career Closet concept with the Career Services Office.
Requirements for applicants include the following:
- Have a strong interest in serving the community.
- Be able to relate to diverse populations.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Able to provide a copy of either a high school diploma, GED, or college transcript.
- have reliable transportation.
- Be available to attend tuition-free AmeriCorps class at Salisbury university bu weekly during the Spring semester.
- Must successfully pass a comprehensive Criminal History Check, which includes FBI fingerprinting.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawful permanent resident alien.
- Applicants DO NOT need to be college students, anyone from the community who fits the above requirements may participate.

- An educational award of $3,247.50 for future educational expenses or repayment of federal student loans- members who are 55 or older may gift their education award to a child or grandchild.

- 4 tuition-free credits at Salisbury University for completion of training courses.
- Access to the Americorps Alumni Network.
The member must complete 900 hours by August 14th, 2023
This position is offered through a partnership with ShoreCorps, the AmeriCorps program at Slaisbury University. It is Contingent upon federal funding and approval of the AmeriCorps office.
