The Rosenwald Program improved education for African Americans in the South. The program featured state-of-the art schools built across the South for African-American children, and was considered the most important initiative to advance black education in the early 20th century.
But when a 1954 Supreme Court ruling declared segregation in education unconstitutional, Rosenwald Schools became obsolete.
Join local author and retired history professor Dr. Clara Small to learn more about the Rosenwald Schools and their impact on the nation’s history.
