One in four Americans age 65 or older falls every year. But falls don't have to be part of aging! A Falls Prevention Awareness Day will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at MAC.
Featured will be local vendors, refreshments, information on fall prevention strategies, and fall risk screenings for older adults, conducted by UMES physical therapy students. Also planned is a medication review for older adults, conducted by UMES pharmacy students. For this screening, participants should bring a list of all their medications, which will be reviewed for meds that could be related to falling. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.
