The Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council (SWAC)

Mission: To enhance the quality of life in Wicomico County and the surrounding region by: developing arts awareness through educational programs and community outreach, promoting artistic experiences for diverse ages and cultures, and facilitating communication among area artists and organizations, thereby establishing our community as a vital cultural center.

The Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council (SWAC), established in 1967, is the first incorporated arts council in Maryland.

As a nonprofit organization, SWAC is dedicated to promoting, producing, funding, and programming all art disciplines for the county, community, schools, youth, and individuals of all ages. The council advocates for the arts on local, regional, state, and national levels.

• Arts Education: Providing educational programs and workshops to engage individuals of all ages in the arts.
• Community Outreach: Organizing events and initiatives that bring the arts to diverse audiences.
• Grants and Scholarships: Offering financial support to artists, educators, and organizations to facilitate artistic endeavors.
• Artist Registry: Maintaining a directory of local artists to connect them with opportunities and resources.
