Who We Are

A network of Lower Shore black professionals and community stakeholders working together to advance community involvement through volunteerism, advocacy and outreach. We aim to help connect local black professionals with service on nonprofit Boards and opportunities for service on local county and municipal government commissions.

What We Do

This network of individuals stands at the ready to assist community non-profits and governmental partners in bringing about much needed diversity and inclusion in their ranks.

As the Lower Shore Black Professionals Alliance (LSBPA):

What we believe:

  • Community service is a central tenet to our members and essential for thriving communities.
  • Diverse representation strengthens communities and fosters courageous conversations, meaningful collaboration, and innovation.
  • There are ample talented black professionals on the lower shore readily available to serve on boards, committees, and commissions.

What we expect:

  • Lower Shore boards, committees, and commissions to accurately reflect the communities they serve.
  • Efforts at diversity, equity, and inclusion outreach to include tangible metrics for improvement
  • Our non-profit and government entities to partner with LSBPA to identify a broad talent pool interested in serving on boards.

What we offer:

  • Human capital to build and expand the capacity and availability of viable board candidates.
  • A safe space for courageous conversations with external organizations and culturally competent feedback
  • A commitment to amplify and target messaging to underserved communities across the Lower Shore.

We urge the many hardworking non-profit boards and government commissions to work hand in hand with the Lower Shore Black Professionals Alliance (LSBPA) to ensure we are adequately addressing these issues to chart a more inclusive spirit of service in our communities.
